Harry T. Lewis

April 3, 1941 ~ March 16, 2019 (age 77)

Harry Thurman Lewis passed away Saturday morning, March 16, 2019 at the age of 77.

Mr. Lewis, better known simply as Harry, was born on April 3, 1941 in Center, GA.  He grew up in the small community with his 11 siblings where he honed a quick wit and dry sense of humor for which he is always remembered.  Harry was a carpenter by trade and well known for his craft.  His greatest work, however, was in evangelizing and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He was a minister for many years, pastoring churches throughout the Southeast.  When he was not pastoring, he travelled extensively, preaching and singing with his family.  Harry also spent a great deal of time visiting the sick and elderly, a work that he was very passionate about and instilled in his family.  For this reason, the family requests that donations be made to the Trailblazin’ Christian Bikers in lieu of flowers.  This ministry outreach carries on that tradition.

Harry is preceded in death by his son, Curtis Estel Lewis; parents, Walter Eugene and Lois Guyton Lewis, brothers; Jimmy Ray, Cug, Curtis, Fred, Luther, George and Charles Lewis, sisters; Josie Cobb, Jessie Howard and Margie Haney. Harry is survived by his son, Marvin (Mark) Lewis (Angie), daughters; Ivana Flowers (Robert), Mekisha Bond (Lamar), Stevi’ and Jenna Lewis; sister, Jane Holcomb, grandchildren; Markaye, Tansey, Brad, Justin, Aquene, Daylon, Austin, Kinsley, Olivia, and Bella as well as 5 great grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday, March 22nd from 5-7pm at The Church of God of the Union Assembly at 116 Brookfield Dr. Newport, TN 37721 and the memorial service will immediately follow at 7pm officiated by Reverends Lewis Beeler and Paul Thomas Hughes.  A graveside service will be held the following morning, Saturday, March 23rd at 11am at The Church of God of the Union Assembly, 589 State Route 20 Spur SE, Cartersville, GA 30121, officiated by Rev. Lamar Bond.

The family would like to offer sincere thanks for the outpouring of love and prayers.
