Obituary

Michael Frank “Mike” Moore, age 75 of Newport, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Mike was a Christian, and a member of Northport Baptist Church. A lifelong educator, Mike taught at Northport, Edgemont, and Cosby High School. As a teacher, he was passionate about history. More than anything, however, Mike loved his family, delighting in his kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Polly Moore; and his in-laws, Walter “Penny” & Dixie Hance.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Dorothy Hance Moore; children, Michael Frank Moore, II and Paulena Moore (David) Tripucka; grandchildren, Sarah Michelle Tripucka (and fiance’ Eli Hodge) & Caleb David Tripucka; brother, Patrick (Bonita) Moore; brother & sister in law, Anthony & Anna Hance; several nieces & nephews; and countless students for whom he cared deeply.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Tennova Newport Medical Center, Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice, and Newport Health & Rehab.
